My Story
In the early years of my marriage, we ran up a LOT of credit card debt while I was a stay-at-home Mom. We didn't plan financially when I left my job, so our income was cut in half with minimal reduction in expenses. The internet was barely existing and there weren't any work from home gigs (this was in the early 2000's). Needless to say, it was a VERY stressful time...
This is how my life was back then
Sadly, we didn't really pay attention to our finances and kept spending as if I'd never left my job...no wonder we wracked up so much debt! (it would be equivalent to $100,000 in todays dollars (insert squirly face!) When we finally faced reality, we really had to hunker down and not spend, which meant we didn't get to do much with our kids (don't get me wrong, we still made great memories), but there was so much more I wish we could have done. Plus the underlying stress and it's impact on our family as a whole.
